  19. Introduction
  20. ────────────
  21. The Pascal-network was setup to help everybody conceirned with Pascal.
  22. Started on August 15th 1993 in Tilburg/The Netherlands, and aims to grow
  23. to a world-wide organisation.  At this moment the network expands all
  24. accros the world, from Iceland to Australia, from the USA to Poland!  The
  25. network contains out of a message section, which is divided into several
  26. area's, and a file-section, through which our members can distribute
  27. pascal-software and tools, as long as these are shareware or public domain.

  29. As PascalNet is only for pascal programming, other discussions are off-topic.
  30. There is, however, an area called 'Assembler.Pas', as assembler-code is
  31. possible within Pascal, and can't be missed by the professionals.

  33. The common language in Pascal-Net is English. All messages must be written in
  34. English, as everybody must be able to read what you're trying to say.

  37. Becomming a Hub/Host
  38. ────────────────────
  39. Hubs and Hosts must have some reasonable experiance in the working of
  40. Fido(-related) message handling, and also know a bit of pascal.
  41. When you want to become a hub, write a message to 115:115/0 telling so.  If
  42. you want to be a host, write to the same node-number, or write to your hub.
  43. Hub's and Hosts must carry all available message area's available on
  44. PascalNet.

  46. Becomming a Node
  47. ────────────────
  48. Ask your nearest host if you can be connected to Pascal-Net.  Everybody who
  49. has any intrest in pascal is welcome (knowledge is not needed).

  51. Becomming a Point
  52. ─────────────────
  53. Ask your nearest node if you can be connected to Pascal-Net.  Everybody who
  54. has any intrest in pascal is welcome (knowledge is not needed either).  In
  55. general we assign points as Privat Node. In this way, it's very easy to
  56. contact anybody you want to reach.

  58. Moderating of the area's
  59. ────────────────────────
  60. Every area has it's own moderator.  When we started up we had some 20 area's.
  61. These area's are network-areas and are main-moderated by 115:115/0, but
  62. those who want to take over the moderating are welcomed.  These area-
  63. moderators are appointed by de Main-Moderator, and can (when needed) be
  64. replaced by the main-Moderator. Those areas will also include the area's for
  65. the other pascal versions of Pascal Software.
  66. When somebody wants to start a new area, he/she must ask 115:115/0 for
  67. permission to do so. That area will be fully moderatored by the proposer.
  68. When he/she decides to stop with it, the main-moderator can appoint a new
  69. moderator for that area, but he must take into account the wishes of the
  70. previous moderator, and when wishes differ, must publish why the different
  71. choice. Every area has it's own arearules.  The language in all area's must
  72. be English, however, when national area's are made (like SYSOP.PNL) then the
  73. national language is also allowed.

  75. FileArea's
  76. ──────────
  77. At current, Pascal-Net has a rather active file-distribution network. It
  78. can carry any software tool for Pascal (Like PTGen), sources, and collections
  79. of sources (like Swag). Anybody can use the PASADMIT file-area in order to
  80. admit their own files for distribution in Pascal-Net.

  82. Meetings
  83. ────────
  84. We aim to have yearly meeting for all hubs, hosts, nodes and their
  85. co-sysops of one country. If a country is to big for one national meeting,
  86. like the USA, then this may be done for smaller regions too.
  87. The time and venue will be decided by the country's host, aswell as the way
  88. the party will be organised. The meeting should always include a discussion
  89. about any current problem on the net, or to express new idea's.
